Indianapolis' sustainable seafood pioneer, Chef Ryan Nelson's knowledge and dedication to ecologically sound food practices and sustainable seafood has gained him national recognition. Sante Magazine has awarded Ryan the culinary award for Sustainability in 2005, 2006 and 2008, and was recently named a chef consultant to the Alaskan Seafood Marketing Institutes "Wild Alaskan Seafood Congress of Conscious Chefs".
Chef Ryan is the founder and host of The Chef's Alliance for Riley Children's Hospital, and was named to the 2006 Indianapolis Business Journal's class of "40 under Forty", a listing of forty young local business and community leaders that have left their mark on the city. Since opening the Oceanaire Seafood Room in Indianapolis as Executive Chef, Nelson's goal to bring world-class seafood to a world-class city, commands a remarkable respect of both experience and talent.
